| Author | Eve Ensler | |
| Overview | The author Eve Ensler has interviewed women from all walks of life and all ages and compiled them into this interesting montage of various real women’s sexual experiences. It is sometimes touching and sometimes hilarious, but mostly it is startlingly factual, and I am saying that as a woman! As well as descriptions of first experiences and fun memories it is laced with haunting poems and accounts from abused and sexually betrayed women. The piece highlights the suffering so many of us try to imagine never happens and leaves any observer with a notion to help make the world a better place on leaving the show. I think what makes the piece so successful in its own right is the braveness of all those interviewed, to give such obviously honest and open accounts of things we are all too often afraid to discuss. This is a fantastic production to see and although at times the rawness of this piece makes it slightly daunting to both watch and perform in, the overall result is one of great impact. | |
