All to often on film it is between two “good looking” characters who are “cool” and “trendy.” So I aim to show how two people who aren’t very good a communicating are a bit “weird” communicate and fall for each other. Although this by a long way isn’t a new concept it is an interesting one. My film will follow a single female character that works on her own in a coffee shop. She is a bit “quirky” and amuses herself by doing weird things to make the day go faster. One of the main things she does is try to judge the people that come into the coffee shop and give them a mug with writing on the bottom. The writing could be emotions, statements or just funny observations. Examples of these are; “lonely,” “angry,” “weird,” “shy,” “Stuck up,” “Cute,” etc. The main story follows her relationship with a man that comes in at the same two times everyday for his morning and afternoon breaks. The man is equally a bit “geeky” and wears a suit that doesn’t look right on him. Often there aren’t many people in the shop so it is awkward between the two characters. They often glance at each other. The man sits in the same seat every time and the girl makes sure the table and seat are clean and free for the times he comes in. The girl always gives the man compliments on his mugs of coffee and makes a special effort with them. For example she could put a sprinkle of chocolate in the shape of a heart on his drink. The man is oblivious to what she does for him because he has low self-esteem. The story takes a turn for the good when the man spots the writing on the bottom of the mug, at first he’s not sure what to think. He looks around the room at the others people and sees what is written on their mugs. He laughs and the girl is watching him. He takes his mug back to the counter when he is finished and smiles at the girl. The next time he comes in he looks over at her, he cant stop staring at her and she often makes eye contact with him. This is the first time he has been staring at her in the film, before now it has been one sided. The film ends with the two getting together. This can be done in a number of ways. 1. The man could write a message on the bottom of his cup and give it to the girl. 2. The man could write his number on the bottom of the cup 3. The man could bring in his own “golden cup” as a present with writing on them 4. He then progresses back to his letter and whilst all seems well the mood and style changes dramatically. he starts to describe money problems he is having and how he cant afford to keep paying the bills and he is in a lot of serious trouble, before to much is revealed he receives a phone call off his wife and they have a discussion about the kids, work and life in general. once the phone call has ended he finally returns back to the letter, the style of the film changes once again as the actors emotional state flips and he begins to weep and apologises over and over out loud.
